Faith in strange times!

Faith in strange times

There can be no doubt that we are living in strange times. it is times like this that we have the awesome opportunity as the bod of Christ to minister to the ones who don’t yet know the Lord. We as Christians are called to be light and salt to the world around us. This is our chance to show the Love of Jesus to a word that so desperately needs Him, but we have to do our part. What does that look like? For one it is not buying into the panic that is plaguing our country, states and towns right now. It is walking in the faith that we have claimed to have ever since we called ourselves Christian. The second is that we should be standing out from the world by not thinking of ourselves first but of others. Paul talked about this in his letter to the Philippians:

Philippians 2:3-4 “Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.”

Now I am not saying that we go around recklessly ignoring the things that we need to live, but, if we have enough, we should make sure that those who don’t have enough have what they need.

These are unprecedented times for us to live the faith that we have been blessed with by the Lord. We have all been given a measure of faith and it is times like these that when we step out in faith our faith increases. Again Paul said:

Rom 12:3 “For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.”

Faith in strange times is a blessing. It is through the strain and stretching of the current circumstance that our faith grows!

“Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.”
